Characteristics: A large, serpentine lake monster, often described as having a long neck and a horse-like head. Eyewitness accounts often describe a creature that is dark green or brown, with a smooth skin or scales, and a body that is humped. It is said to be gentle and reclusive
Fun Fact: Champy’s legend has been around for centuries, with the first recorded sighting dating back to 1609 by French explorer Samuel de Champlain. In 1977, Vermont passed a law protecting Champy from being hunted or harassed.
